Subcontract Statement of Work Development Best Practices Workshop

The Statement of Work (SOW) or Performance Work Statement (PWS) is the most important document in any contemplated acquisition. Getting it right will determine how successful the acquisition will be in delivering the results your customers need. Workshop will focus discuss differences and similarities between a SOW and a PWS. It will discuss important factors that contribute to creating effective requirements document. It will provide participants with a structured way to create and structure both documents using a work breakdown structure.  Workshop will wrap up by using a case study to give 2 to 3 person teams an opportunity to create either a SOW or PWS based on a case. Results will be presented to the class.

Learning Objectives

  • The value of taking a team approach when developing requirements documents
  • Distinguish the difference between an SOW and PWS.
  • Identify which types of acquisitions are most suited for either a PWS or SOW.
  • Identify the key inputs to either document
  • Create an useable SOW or PWS from a classroom case study.

Continuing Education Credits

5.5 CLE/ .60 CEU/ 6.5 CPE (Finance) credits may be earned for this course. This course is recommended for 8 CLP credits.

This course has been approved for CLE in CA, PA, VA and TX.  Because this activity has been approved in another CLE jurisdiction, you may also receive credit for participation in AK, AZ, AR, CO, FL, HI, IL, ME, MT, NJ, NY, ND, and WI (additional state requirements may apply). If you are seeking CLE credits for a jurisdiction other than the ones listed above, please contact us for additional information.

This course can be submitted to Project Management Institute (PMI) for PDU.  Upon their approval, it may be worth 5.5 PDU credits.
