This fast-paced, information packed series provides the fundamentals and framework for federal Information Technology (IT) acquisitions together with practical pointers and best practices. Designed for busy contract specialists, contract managers, contracting officers and other procurement professionals, program managers, technical representatives, information technology professionals and attorneys, the series will cover the relevant statutory and regulatory basics, cyber-security requirements and best practices, what professionals need to know about the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications 800-53, 800-171 and other requirements, the IT acquisition life-cycle, cloud computing, covered defense information and relevant intellectual property issues.

1. July 12: The Foundations for Federal IT Acquisitions: The FAR and DFARS Guidance

2. August 2: Federal Acquisition of IT: A Deeper Dive

3. September 6: Key Contractual Cybersecurity Requirements in Federal IT Acquisitions: Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), The CUI Registry, Unclassified Controlled Technical Information (UCTI), Covered Contractor Information Systems, Covered Defense Information (CDI), Cyber-Incident Reporting Requirements and Practical Pointers

4. October 4: NIST SP 800 53 and NIST SP 800-171: Technical Requirements and Practical Guidance on What they Mean to Contractors

5. November 1: More on Cloud Computing and Licensing Computer Software and other IT related Intellectual Property

6. December 6: What U.S. Contractors Need to Know About European Cybersecurity Regulations

 

Continuing Education Credits

1.5 CLE/0.15 CEU/1.5 CPE (Business Law) credits may be earned for this course. This course is recommended for 2.0 CLP credits.

This course has been approved for CLE in CA, PA, VA and TX. Because this activity has been approved in another CLE jurisdiction, you may also receive credit for participation in AK, AZ, AR, CO, FL, HI, IL, ME, MT, NJ, NY, ND, and WI (additional state requirements may apply).
