Public policy dictates that it’s the responsibility of the federal government to support and develop small businesses because these are the backbone of our U.S. economy.  Accordingly, federal agencies are required contract a certain percentage of their appropriate contracting funds with small businesses.  The SBA has developed several programs aimed at supporting certain socioeconomic statuses.  This session will discuss the primary programs (8(a), Woman-Owned, Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned, Veteran-Owned, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, and HUBZone) that support small businesses pursuing federal contracts and subcontracts.  The session will also discuss recent developments that result in changes to the programs.
