When selling overseas or interacting with international business partners, companies are required to navigate a complicated web of export control laws. Potentially touching any product or technology moving through U.S. commerce, but especially targeting products and technologies implicating national defense, the export administration regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce and by the U.S. Department of State potentially limit what you can do and how you can interact with these international partners. But even more importantly, the export controls can sometimes also apply to U.S.-based disclosures of technology to certain foreign citizens located within the United States, posing significant risks to colleges and universities. In this course, experienced regulatory attorney David Gallacher will introduce you to the export control regime, helping you know how to navigate the various requirements.

Topics include:

  • Understanding the various U.S. regulatory regimes governing export controls
  • Explaining what types of products and technologies may require an export license
  • Identifying issues to help ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws
