The contracting officer plays a pivotal role in the Government contracting process. She is a required player in contract awards, contract changes, contract terminations and contract disputes. Despite the importance of the contracting officer, contractors and Government personnel alike often behave as if they are oblivious to the need for a contracting officer’s involvement in every stage of the life of a contract.
