DCAA Audit Insights ( Jun 6, 13, 20, 27, 2024)

FORVIS Government Contracting experts will review current DCAA Audit focus areas, trends, and share their real world experiences with current and ongoing DCAA Audits.
How to Navigate Audit Challenges
Unravelling the Complexities In this initial session, Bill Walter will provide an overview of the role DCAA plays in contract oversight and their interaction with others involved in the contracting process including the Contracting Officer and DCMA. Bill will provide insight into applicable rules and regulations guiding contract audits and introduce the guidance used by auditors. The session will cover when audits apply and steps that contractors can take to minimize the risk of audit throughout the contracting process from submission of cost proposals to the final closeout of the contract.
Navigating DCAA Audit Issues
Insights into Incurred Cost Proposal Trends and Best Practices In this session, Brad Tress will discuss current incurred cost proposal audit trends and cost allowability. This session will dive into the most common costs being by DCAA in the ICP audit process as well as best practices to both mitigate audit findings and respond to them when they occur.
What is a Business System and why does DCAA care?
During this session, we will discuss the six business systems and their applicability with a particular focus on the business systems audited by DCAA (Accounting, Estimating, and Material Management Accounting System). We will identify statistics and trends related to audit frequency and explain how to prepare and what to expect during the audit. Finally we will identify common system deficiencies and instances of noncompliance as well as best practices to survive and pass the audit.
Understanding the Issues and Challenges of DCAA’s “Other” Audits
This session will address what DCAA’s Report to Congress refers to as “other audits”, including audits associated with the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Truth in Negotiations (TIN), and other selected cost reviews. We will provide an overview of the timing and scope of these audits, putting them into context of what they’re meant to accomplish and the likelihood that contractors will experience them. We will also discuss trends and issues within these audits, common findings, and contractor strategies to mitigate risks of negative outcomes.
Instructors: Bill Walter, Brad Tress, Mike Mardesich, and Brian Gallagher, FORVIS
